Monday 23rd March – bike ***** – Felixstowe to Levington Church –
sunny and warm.
With no sign of this large high pressure moving, we have another day of
blue skies with light winds being much warmer today here on the coast:) So
exercises once again in the garden before making a sandwich and for the
third day in a row we head out on our bikes, going a little further today
and ended up near Levington Church for lunch. Leaving home at 12.40 we soon
pass the huge Uniserve warehouse and out into the country, a container
train stopped at a red light waves us across a level crossing before taking
the tree lined route all the way to Loompit lake spotting some deer several
butterflies and loads of blue tits. The River Orwell looked lovely with
hardly a ripple with a few boats out enjoying the light airs, Loompit had
several birds, we had a fly past from a heron with loads of Tufted and
Pochard diving for weed. We continue into the marina before carrying along
the very bumpy river path around Levington creek and up towards Levington
Church, sitting on the bench with stunning views down to the river with
40/50 deer relaxing in the field below including two stags with impressive
antlers with a robin singing in a near-by tree and a buzzard circling
overhead, just perfect, it was good to get the coats off as we were
slightly overdressed today! We enjoyed our sandwich which we shared with
the robin who came very cross and were in no hurry to move away. It was
quite popular with several people walking down to the river enjoying the
perfect spring weather:) Well rested we take the roads home through the
pretty Levington village, a mass of several different sorts of daffodils.
The cycle track that runs alongside the very busy A 14 is quite scary with
loads of lorries heading towards you. We then bump into windsurfing mate
Mark Swain out in his swanky MG sports car with the roof down and stop for
a chat, through the villages of Trimley and Walton and home for some
well-deserved sponge cake and a cuppa. Once again no pics on the local
weather but two in the paper:)
